Advocacy

Construction Industry issues don’t just impact builders – they impact the whole industry, from real estate agents to concrete contractors and from window installers to plumbing supply companies. Ultimately, they affect our entire regional economy. Our association actively voices your concerns, but we are only as strong as our members. The more members who participate, the more likely our policy goals will be realized. So get involved! Create positive change! Help us advocate for construction!

Government Affairs:

The Central Oregon Builders Association (COBA) Government Affairs Department provides member representation in three local counties (Crook County, Deschutes County, and Jefferson County) and five local cities (Bend, Redmond, Sisters, LaPine and Prineville) with the intent to formulate sound and successful partnerships with state and local government officials.

COBA members face numerous rules and regulations that govern many aspects of their industry. The challenge remains, how to stay competitive in an environment that increasingly faces burdensome mandates. The COBA Government Affairs Department researches and analyzes legislation and regulatory developments, represents the association’s interests, and educates local government and members on implications of various industry specific positions and priorities.

The goal, of COBA Government Affairs Department, is to safeguard your interests.

Government Affairs Committee:

Members who serve on the Government Affairs Committee provide staff with imperative input and direction regarding the capacity in which to represent members to local agencies and policy makers.

Get involved and join the Government Affairs Committee!

Central Oregon Small Business Political Action Committee  (COSBPAC)

COBA specifically works with its political action committee, the Central Oregon Small Business PAC (COSBPAC), to support elected officials who advocate for job growth and housing within the Central Oregon small business community.

The COSBPAC is a very active political action committee in our region. Being an involved player in political races ensures our industry a seat at the table when issues that affect us are discussed. Our local contributions are compiled with those of other home builder associations across Oregon in the Oregon Home Builders Association’s political fund, and Oregonians for Affordable Housing.

In addition to candidate and issue support, the COSBPAC holds various fundraising events and activities.
