Our Mission:

Shaping Policy to Protect Your Business

COBA’s Government Affairs team is dedicated to advocating for a fair and business-friendly environment for the building industry. We work with local, regional, and state policymakers to promote responsible growth, protect property rights, and ensure the building industry thrives in Central Oregon. By championing policies that reduce unnecessary costs and regulations, we help keep housing affordable and our community strong.

What We're Fighting For

Our Government Affairs efforts focus on the issues that matter most to the building industry and the Central Oregon community:

Affordable Housing:

01
We support policies that lower development costs and remove barriers to affordable housing projects, ensuring more families in Central Oregon can access homes within their budgets. This includes pushing for incentives for affordable housing developments, reducing permit and impact fees, and addressing zoning restrictions that limit housing supply.

Land Use:

02
Promoting balanced and responsible land use policies is essential for sustainable growth. We work with local governments to ensure zoning laws and land use planning align with the region’s growth needs, protecting builders’ ability to develop new homes and infrastructure without unnecessary restrictions.

Regulation Reform:

03
Reducing burdensome regulations helps builders and contractors operate efficiently and keep projects on schedule and within budget. COBA contends to streamline permitting processes, simplify compliance requirements, and eliminate duplicative or outdated regulations that add unnecessary costs to projects.

Infrastructure Investment:

04
A growing community needs reliable infrastructure to support residents and businesses. COBA supports investments in transportation systems, utilities, and public services that are vital to development. By ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with growth, we help create a foundation for the future.

Workforce Development:

05
With a growing labor shortage in the trades, COBA actively supports initiatives to build a strong, skilled workforce. We advocate for funding and programs that provide education, apprenticeships, and training opportunities for individuals interested in building careers. By investing in workforce development, we ensure the industry has the talent it needs to thrive.
